This year’s Valentine’s day was successfully celebrated at the Omorfos Kosmos Pub on 15th February 2009. The Search for Mr. and Miss Valentine 2009 highlighted the celebration in which ten beautiful ladies competed for the Miss Valentine title while four gentlemen likewise vied for the Mr. Valentine post. The contestants were mixed nationalities such as Cypriot, Filipino, Chinese, Vietnamese and Afghanistan. Five of the six judges were Cypriots namely Mr. Costakis Panagidi, Director of Panasound Music; Mr. Kypros Charalambous, Producer / Aria Music Record Company; Mr. Dinos Christodoulides, Professional Dance Instructor; Mr. Nondas Epaminonda, University Guru on Communications and Engineer Christos Christou with the addition of the only lady in the panel Mrs. Mary Jane Louka, a Filipina who is the Office Manager of Omega Employment Services. The program kicked off with a welcome note from Tinig Pinoy Chief Editor Joy Miranda who handed over two bouquets of flowers (Courtesy by Solonas Solomonides) to TP Staff members Scarlet Tugbo and Jenny “Jaya Antolin for their tireless and unconditional assistance in initiating the event. Another Tinig Pinoy staff members Lissa Jataas and Johanna Bogbog (who provided the questions for the search’s Question and Answer portion,) introduced the members of the panel of judges and thereon explained the criteria for judging. Two Filipinas from Limassol Shobe and Gemma serenaded the contestants with their powerfully alluring voices.  Added to the entertainment was the dance number of the ever ready and energetic Nicosia dance group who call themselves “Pazaway Gurls. They did one of their dances and once again captivated the admiration of the audience. After the search proper, a quick raffle draw took place where lots of giveaways were distributed to lucky winners. Another special part of the event was the “Search a Heart’s Pair moment which was a participation from the audience. A lot of  tiny papers shaped as heart were cut into two and were distributed to the crowd. A pair who can resemble the word “sweet-heart can have their share of prizes courtesy by Filipina Lorelei Pelobello and jeweler husband Panicos. So after the prompt searching, Marciana Aday (Philippines) found her pair in a guy named Mohammad (Pakistan), thus both were declared Mr. and Miss Heart.
Finally, after haggling with the judges’ charts,  the tabulators in the persons of Loida Langpa, Lissa Jataas, Maria Nieves with the able assistance of Ester Beatty came up with the following results: For male Best in Sports –Mr. Ahmad Wizal (Afghanistan); While the Best in Formal Attire, Best in Talent, Mr Sexy Body and Mr. Valentine title all went to Filipino-Cypriot Mr. Michael Jeff Socratous.
