Nurses for New Zealand

Â
The shortage for nurses and other healthcare professionals is a worldwide phenomenon. At the height of the issue surrounding the retake order of the US government for all June 2006 Nursing Board exam passers, Filipino nurses who want to work abroad still has lots of opportunities to consider.
Worldwide, the demand for nurses continues to increase and this fact is true not only in America but in other promising destinations as well. Aside from USA, Filipino nurses can opt to work in New Zealand which currently has 1,000 job openings for nurses.
Zosimo Cabulisan, president and chief operating officer of Reliable Recruitment Corp., said, New Zealand is the right place for you. The POEA-licensed recruitment agency has deployed 200 newly licensed nurses at Wellington.
Likewise, senior consultant and general manager of Alta Solutions, Alberto Tuason, said New Zealand locals (called Kiwis) prefer Filipinos over other foreign nurses because our nurses are naturally compassionate, helpful and kind. Furthermore, Filipino nurses are hardworking and are willing to work even beyond the allotted working hours.
Alta Solutions is a recruitment and consulting specialist that is based in Wellinton, New Zealand. The agency has interviewed applicants in Baguio City for possible deployment in the New Zealand health facilities.
According to Tuason, some Filipino nurses choose to be deployed in New Zealand because they see this as a way for later migration to other destinations such as America, United Kingdom, and Australia. However, most of them choose to stay in New Zealand because of the favorable working conditions and reasonable wages.
According to Cabulisan, “Nurses in New Zealand tend to receive higher take-home pay compared to their counterparts in the UK because of the relatively low withholding tax deductions of only 24 percent, as against 40 percent in the UK.
Tuason added that an estimate of 50,000 Filipinos are now in New Zealand. The country is industrial-agricultural and tourism-oriented. It is about as big as the Philippines with less than 5 million residents.

Reliable Recruitment Agency is not a reliable agency!!! Do not be persuaded by their sweet tongue. Before the nurses were able to go to New Zealand, they put them in a difficult situation in which these poor nurses had nothing to do but yielded in to their conditions. High fees (which is more than what POEA says) and fake electronic ticket which printed a return trip which IN FACT a SINGLE TRIP only. EVIl!!!

whatever altasolution or this reliable agency is telling nurses in the philippines are all lies. they are just after your money. poor nurses! please research first regarding this agencies esp. alta solutions as there many nurses being victimized by this agency here in nz. i don’t know how this people sleep at night. it’s all about money and they don’t care about the nurses’ welfare. all their contracts are one sided and the nurses are forced not asked to sign them without them reading what is in their contract. this alta solution is full of promises but all of them are lies.

Pls. don’t trust this employment agency. We have now troubles handling the employment contracts of Filipino Nurses in New Zealand because of the illicit contracts made by this agency. Mr. Alberto Tuazon, just wait until we nail you.

NOBODY NEEDS AN AGENCY FROM THE PHILIPPINES TO COME HERE IN NZ AS RN. I AM A NURSE AND NEW ZEALAND IS A BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY WHICH TRIES TO OFFER A GOOD AND FAIR LIVING FOR IMMIGRANTS. THE TROUBLE IS WITH SOME OPPORTUNISTIC PEOPLE. NOT THE KIWIS BUT YOUR OWN FELLOW COUNTRYMEN. INSTEAD OF PAYING RELIABLE AGENCY THE PLACEMENT FEE WHICH IS PHP 180,000, WHY NOT DO YOUR OWN APPLICATIONS AND PROCESSING?
IN FAIRNESS, ALTA IS NOT THAT BAD. RELIABLE RECRUITMENT AGENCY IN THE PHILIPPINES IS THE MOST EVIL OF ALL. DO NOT TRUST THEM. POEA IS ALREADY AWARE OF THEIR EXCESSIVE FEES BUT UNFORTUNATELY, THEY DON’T DO ANYTHING BUT TO WARN PUBLIC TO GO TO THIS AGENCY.
FYI, RELIABLE RECRUITMENT AGENCY DO NOT ISSUE ANY OFFICIAL RECEIPT WHEN U PAY THEM THEIR PLACEMENT FEES. TSK, TSK, TSK. I DON’T KNOW WHY ALTA CAN’T GET AWAY WITH RELIABLE AGENCY. RELIABLE AGENCY PUTS ALTA SOLUTION’S NAME IN THE MURKY, FOUL TRENCH.

July 3rd, 2009 at 9:17 pm
KABAYAN:you’re so naive!!maybe you don’t know alta solutions because you did not loan money from them!don’t you know that the 7000 they lend you is supposed to be from your employer who sponsored you?ideally you’re not supposed to pay them anything but your ticket and medicals..because from your course to accommodation it’s payed by your employer…
July 14th, 2009 at 1:40 am

To All fellow Filipino Nurses Back Home…
If you intend to apply here in NZ, there is no need for a recruitment agency. Why? It’s because the application is fairly simple and straight forward. You could do it over the net. So what do you need to do?
1. Make sure you have all your credentials updated and duly accredited. (For a list of needed documents, check out the Nursing Council of NZ website). As much as possible, get a curriculum description from your school, as NZ Nursing council tend to review this in detail. Having a year or two experience in hospital setting is a requirement.
2. Sit and Pass the IELTS exam, a band of 7 is needed in all categories.
3. Once you’ve done the first two steps, submit your documents to NZ Nursing council for them to assess it. They will then tell you of what you need to do in order for them to consider your application re: Competency Assessment Program (which is offered at different institutions with marked different in fees. I think UNITEC still offers the cheapest option about 4k).
4. Once you have fulfilled all the requirement in the Competency Assessment Program, NZ Nursing Council will then recognized you as an RN….apply for a job…$$$$$
The expected bulk of you expenses would be for the following:
1. IELTS (PhP 10k????)
2. Air fare (PhP 35K???? – 60k???)… if you need to book a return fare, ask the booking agency if they could refund the return trip if you are not gonna use it.
3. Competency Assessment Program ($3,600 – $4,500)
4. Board and lodging here in NZ (about $180 – 250 a week)
5. daily expenses for the whole duration of your training and application….
Good luck mga kababayan…. wag na kayong paloko pa sa mga ganid na mga recruiter dyan…

hey i’ve got some news people!!!all nurses that became victims of alta solutions and reliable…they have been proven to breach the fair trading act of new zealand and you can file the complaint @ http://www.comcom.govt.nz follow the instructions how to file a complaint and send the contract as proof…my friend got the confirmation from commerce commision in nz and they breached the fair trading act..they have been given a warning and just need some more evidence!please pass this message to all nurses!!!!
November 13th, 2009 at 6:05 am
hey paw you’re just naive…anyway m not asking for your opinion anyways…i’m just saying how i feel…well if you’re happy fair enough but i’m not…
November 13th, 2009 at 6:08 am
u know what paw you’re the only filipino that i know who’s happy maybe you came from a well off family but how about for those other filipinos who’s got nothing and thinking that everything will be convenient..and if indeed they are a good agency then tell me y all the comments are negative..hahaha maybe you’re one of the staff??hahahhha!
November 13th, 2009 at 6:26 am
@paw
i understand where you’re coming from. But we should not justify the wrong doings they’ve done against us.you’re just like saying it’s ok for us that they take advantage of our innocence as long as we get something in return but it shouldn’t be the case because it can’t be considered as “utang na loob”we are paying so we have the right to know what’s the necessary procedures coz they’ve been here for a long time and they should be telling us the right thing to do..yan ang problema sa mga pinoy parati tayong nagpapaabuso kaya anong nangyari sa pilipinas ngayon typical attitude ng pinoy…ei let me tell u something we have to change our attitude and speak up kaya walang nanyayari sa atin coz we don’t get rid of our negative attitudes hindi naman tayo nang-aapi so dapat huwag din clang mang-api…

HI! I HOPE SOMEBODY HERE COULD RECOMMEND ANY AGENCY FOR NURSES TRYING TO APPLY FOR CAP IN NEW ZEALAND with good reputation and fast processing. Is it true that there is a great competition of Nurses there in NZ? Once you finished CAP, is it really hard to find for an employer (Hospital) in NZ? I hope you could help me. Thanks a lot!

HI EVERYONE. I HAVE APPLIED FOR A NZ RN LICENSE ON MY OWN THRU THE NZ NURSING COUNCIL. IT WAS A LOT OF LEGWORK BUT WORTH THE EFFORT COZ I SAVED A LOT NOT GOING THRU AN AGENCY.
BUT FINDING A SCHOOL FOR THE CAP IS REALLY FRUSTRATING. I CONTACTED ALL THE ACCREDITED CAP SCHOOLS BUT THEY ARE ALL FULLY BOOKED. I WAS BECOMING DESPERATE BECAUSE THE NURSING COUNCIL GAVE ME ONE YEAR FROM THE DATE OF APPROVAL TO ENROLL. WITH THE ADVISE OF MY FRIEND, I HIRED A FILIPINO IMMIGRATION LAWYER BASED IN AUCKLAND. HE ONLY ASKED ME FOR NZ$750 DP AND ANOTHER NZ$750 WHEN THEY WILL BE ABLE TO FIND A SLOT FOR ME. THE FEES THEY ASKED INCLUDE THE SCHOOL SLOT, VISA PROCESSING, AND CHANGE OF STATUS TO WORKING VISA AFTER THE CAP.
I HOPE THE MONEY IS WELL WORTH IT. I ALMOST SIGNED UP WITH RELIABLE FOR ASSISTANCE WITH MY NZ APPLICATION. THEY STILL CHARGED ME P160,000 EVEN IF I ALREADY HAVE MY NSG COUNCIL APPROVAL. NAPAKAMAHAL!!!
FOR ALL THOSE WHO WOULD LIKE TO SAVE. YOU CAN DEFINITELY DO IT ON YOUR OWN. JUST BE PATIENT AND THOROUGH.

For everyone who plans to work in New Zealand as RN, please don’t get duped with money making agencies. You can visit Nurse2NZ.com forum so that you can be well-guided by yourself and other forumers.
I just hate hate it when fellow Filipinos make money out of desperation and ignorance of some nurses. Nurse2NZ.com forum is a bayanihan forum for all Filipino nurses who are planning to be registered in New Zealand by their own without putting risks on untrusted agencies claiming to be POEA licensed, or consultancies, they are all the same. The will suck big sum of money from you. I just couldn’t imagine how they got the nerve to do that to their fellow Filipinos. If you plan to hire agencies for you, then you will not be welcome there in the forum.

hi jester, were you able to find a CAP provider? does the Filipino immigration lawyer based on Auckland able to find you a school? I have the NCNZ approval letter for CAP, too. I also want to find a CAP provider because I have one year to comply with NCNZ. please reply what had happened to your plight? thank you jester!

I work with many Filipino nurses and most of them are great. Well trained and fabulous people. But I do know it can be hard to get that first step into a surgical or medical hospital and many nurses end up indentured into rest homes. That still OK if thats what your into of course! Anyway for professional development try http://www.nzortal.co.nz – lots of nursing related training opportunities.
