“Respect is not somehing we can easily obtain from others. Much like trust, it has to be earned and it is not just about acknowledging authority, either. It is about treating other people as equals, and not as human beings who deserve common courtesy and more. Understand that respect is a two-way thing: You can only get it if you give it.
